Drive ten minutes west from Las Terrenas to Playa Bonita (photo), a cozy, peaceful, and eponymously named Beautiful Beach. Read beaches reportage by Charles Fernandez. Follow straight on the same road to Playa Coson, wild, windy and wonderful. Walking east from Las Terrenas you will encounter first PlayaPopy, one of the most popular beaches, and a series of cozy bays each with its own small stretch of deserted beach. After Punta Popy, there is the Red Beach. |

For the adventure some don’t miss the untouched magic of Playa Moron (photo), about half an hour drive east of El Limon. You’ll need a 4x4 or other hardy vehicle to drive there on your own. Using a GPS: N19 19.1 / W69 25.0. And while you are on the Samana peninsula check out what UNESCO considers to be one of the best bays on planet earth: |
