Pane e Salame” is perfect for a grand dish of pasta or for a simple snack of Italian bread and imported Genoa salami. This place is full of local energy, loud and boisterous, but a lot of fun.

Another good restaurant on the East Seafront is the “ Dolce Vita”, with an extensive menu offering Italian and international dishes.

Located on the West Seafront is “Los Pescadores”, a collection of cozy, petite bistros on the water a perfect to have a drink or aperitif, a snack, or a relaxing dinner.

Among them we recommend “La Terrasse”, built over the sandy beach and supported by stilts, the unassuming charm of this adorable restaurant can rival relaxed beachfront dining anywhere in the world.

While dining there this writer watched as two young men walked out of sea with masks, flippers and a string of newly caught lobsters in hand. They quickly went to the kitchen door where the chef bought the lobsters and just as quickly added ”langostinos” to the chalkboard specials menu.

After a late dinner try the nightlife at the nearby “Gaia” nightclub. As everywhere in the Dominican Republic, nightlife is pure fun with the action reaching its zenith after midnight. Another choice for the night, less touristy for those who want to try the true Caribbean spirit, is the “Bodega”, a nightclub just in front of the Paseo Shopping Center.

Other restaurants in town are: Barrio Latino and Bistreau, on promenade Mambo Social Club, Yuca Caliente, La Capannina and La Dolce Vita.

For lunch go to east promenade Punta Popy: a couple of kiosks on the beach rent deckchairs, serve snacks and not only.
