The Larimar is mined only in the Dominican Republic by a single mine in the world, in Los Chupaderos, about 10 kilometers southwest of the city of Barahona, in the south-western region of the Dominican Republic.
To visit it, you need to take a detour from the Sierra de Bahoruco road that goes from Barahona to Pedernales to reach Los Checheses and Las Filipinas, which are very close together. On these roads can transit only vehicles with four-wheel drive.
The tour that we would recommend is spectacular, 4 days and 3 nights, starting from Boca Chica / Santo Domingo and touch: Barahona, Playa de los Patos, the mine of Larimar, the Bahia de las Aguilas, and on the fourth day you return to Boca Chica / Santo Domingo.
